Special Needs Event in West Milford

The First Annual West Milford’s Road to Resources Event to be held on September 26th from 7-9 pm at the West Milford library located at 1470 Union Valley Rd. Light refreshments will be served at 6:30 pm.

You are invited to come and connect with local organizations to learn about community resources for families of individuals with special needs.

The West Milford Health Advisory Board is pleased to announce that representatives from numerous local organizations have volunteered to speak to the community about available resources for West Milford residents. This event is open to all local families who are looking for resources and activities in West Milford to support their loved ones with special needs.

The topics to be discussed include West Milford School District’s special education programs, recreational opportunities for children with special needs, pre-vocational opportunities, transitional services, safety and communication, as well as support resources for families. Free informational packets and safety tools will be available.

If you or someone you know has a special person in their life and you would like to know what West Milford has to offer, please join us for an informative filled evening.

Join us to learn more about the Passaic County Council for Young Children and how you can be a part of the change in your community. All parents and caregivers are invited!

The Passaic County Council for Young Children (PCCYC) is a group of parents and community partners who come together to share about our children and to strengthen the family. Our focus is on the health, education and well-being of all children, especially those birth to age 8. We work together to make our community a better place to raise a child.
We educate and empower parents to be effective advocates for their children and their family. Local meetings are held monthly. Parent leadership workshops will begin in the fall.
Join us on Wednesday, June 28th to learn more about the council and to share your voice about what is important in the areas of health, education and well-being.

Book Bag Bites supplies West Milford children with Weekend Meals

Book Bag Bites is a community outreach program supplying food to children and families in need. The Highlands Family Success Center and WM Strength & Conditioning have partnered with the local Head Start to send children food home each weekend to help combat hunger in our town.

Food or monetary donations are welcome. If donation is in the form of a check please contact Kelly at HFSC (973)506-6575 or kellyh@highlandsfsc.org.  Drop off donations at the Highlands Family Success Center anytime during center hours of operation.

West Milford Health Department Sponsors Health Education Regarding Zika Virus

The Partnership for Maternal and Child Health of Northern NJ is excited to be partnering with the West Milford Health Department to provide education and resources to the community on the Zika Virus. This topic is pertinent to our community because New Jersey is currently reporting over 240 travel-related cases of Zika, and the numbers are expected to rise with the advent of Spring and Summer. 

A presentation by Renata Meyer-Pflug, the Zika Health Educator for the Partnership, on how this virus is affecting us and ways to prevent our community from getting it.

June 1, 2017 at 6:30 pm at the Hillcrest Center Room 10,  located on 1810 Macopin Road. This program is free and open to the public.
